Well, the dust has settled after AXPONA and the show reports are now pretty much in. After working on the concept for over a year, the response to the Song3's premiere was very gratifying to say the least.
Here are some comments...
Gotta Have It! ...a deal this good is sure to keep Salk very busy in the future!

...my Best Buy system for Day 1 of the show. The sound was extremely clear, smooth, and lovely. Not only was it closer to neutral than many systems I encountered on day 1, but it was also amazingly communicative.

The sound was effortless and engaging even though the new Salk speakers had exactly 2 hours of break in when I sat down. This was a truly high value room!

Indeed, for the money it would be hard to improve on the sound offered. The system especially excelled at soundstaging and high frequency air, while the midrange also was well-integrated. A Cowboy Junkies track caught not only the loose precision of the band’s rhythm section, but also nicely rendered Margo Timmons’ trademark whispered vocals

I agree that in the sub 10 grand category the Wells / salk / lampizator room was probably the best. I could take this system to the deserted island.

Wells Audio and DanaCables joined forces at AXPONA 2016, with an AXPONA premiere of the Wells Audio Majestic ($3499) playing sweet music to my ears. A yet-to-be-named Salk three-way speaker system ($2895) sang with the Salk StreamPlayer Generation II Mini ($1195).

Read the reportThe world premiere Salk Song 3 (tentative name) 3-way speaker system ($2895/pair), with a claimed sensitivity of 89 dB, had maybe two hours of break-in on it, but it still sounded amazingly impressive for the price.

If I could have found Jim Salk before the show ended and I needed to leave, there was a good chance I'd have left with those new $3k. Wow.
